Richmond, meet Whink’s
In the immortal words of early 2000s post-grunge, alt rock band Staind, “it’s been a while.” Sorry for the radio silence, things have been rather hectic here in the Whink’s household. Not for lack of passion, but lack of time. In fact, I might contest that our passion for quality coffee has spiked over the past year, if only to match our primal need for more of it.
For those who don’t know, in late June 2022 the Whink’s family grew by one. We’ve been busy learning what it means to be parents, soaking up time as a family of three, and generally exploring our new ‘normal.’ We’ve been looking for a good time to announce a few new changes for Whink’s, but I’m beginning to realize that the perfect time may not actually exist. As every parent knows, once you feel like you’ve settled into a routine, a major developmental milestone has you scrambling again. Not one to let perfect be the enemy of good, I’m putting pen to paper and knocking out this blog post.
We’ve been busy roasting away, with the same quality coffee you’ve come to expect from Whink’s. A BIG shoutout to our subscribers and other folks who have discovered us during our lull in advertising, your support is very much appreciated and part of the reason we’ve been able to take a nice, long break from the grind that is small business development. We appreciate you more than you know.
On to our next big announcement…
Whink’s has officially moved from Alexandria to weird, wonderful, and downright spunky Richmond, Virginia!
Alexandria will always have a special place in our hearts, for so many reasons. We will miss market days at the Del Ray Vintage and Flea, strolls through Old Town Alexandria and mornings on the water at Belle Haven. We owe so much to the kindness, advice, and generosity of our Alexandria friends and neighbors. We are never too far away, and look forward to our trips back already.
As for Richmond, we are incredibly excited to join such a rich community of artists and makers. As far as Whink’s is concerned, we are still trying to get our footing and will be taking it day-by-day. Of course, we will share any updates with you as soon as we have them - to include markets, brick-and-mortar partnerships, pop-ups, and more.
Thanks to everyone for sticking with us on our journey. It’s been an absolute blast and I can’t wait to see where it goes from here.
